Notes & Pairings
This is our first vintage of Kékfrankos from the Hársfás-út vineyard. It's only a 15 minute drive from Hajós heading toward the village of Érsekhalma, but the soil here is hard packed loess and clay which is a big departure from the sandy soils of the Herreberg. The cover crops here are much more herbaceous than the sandy soils and fruit trees of Herreberg. Hand harvested in the middle of October, it was open top fermented with 30% foot trodden and the lightly crushed cluster layered on top. Pressed into oak barrels for 18 months, it was bottled unfiltered and unfined, without added sulfur. This is dense and concentrated fruit, but isn’t laborious to drink and carries that herbal cover crop with it.
